THE WAR OF THE WORLDS by H. G. Wells – Covers

Two years before the 20th century, H. G. Wells’ The War of the Worlds was unleashed. Many years before the first global conflict known as World War One, Wells imagined an intergalactic conflict. Alien life invading Earth isn’t that uncommon of a plot for today, but back in 1898, it was pretty unique. Here are a few covers of the book from the hundreds that were available since its been in publication. I really enjoy the different interpretations of the alien’s fighting-machines.

  1. I love the classic pocket books inc. One like the first movie that sort of looks like a lamp post sticking out of a boomerang or something. I can’t explain why that movie scared the hell out of me as a kid. I think because when I saw it the first time there was a commercial for a little known sequel and a creepy almost demonic voice says “we never left”.
That to this day sticks with me.
